Our Mission
To bring together churches situated among people living in situations of poverty, powerlessness and oppression, with churches from affluent parts of the world in order to provide training, opportunities, and resources for the youth of Malawi to help empower them and raise them out of poverty
What We Do
Malawi is located in SE Africa and is the 3rd poorest country in the world. Due to a high rate of AIDS, there are an estimated 1.1 million orphans that are living in this small country. Some are taken by relatives (often widows or elderly grandparents) but their needs remain unmet because of the relative's own poverty. Hands of Hope targets an area that is the poorest in the country with a monthly income of $52 US.

Many more children are left without care; taken advantage of, lured into prostitution or taken to work on farms and plantations. Some girls marry at a very young age with the hope they will escape their impoverished lives but often find themselves with more heartache. We believe that education, not handouts, is their way out of poverty.
Hands of Hope has joined forces with Lilongwe Living Water Church to help provide the surrounding community with food, clothes, sewing skills, tutoring and some scholarships to help prepare them to be the future leaders of Malawi.

BuildingWe have been able to help with the construction of a new church building to help accommodate the amount of people coming into church and partaking in the programs we are able to sponsor.

Feeding ProgramWe are able to provide nutrition to the families in Area 23. The local church we work with are able to target those families who are near starvation and provide them with food.
|
EducationEducation is one of our primary goals. The cycle of poverty is broken by education and not hand outs. We have been able to provide sewing machines so students can learn a trade to help them in the future.
